About these school crosswords
The school crosswords follow the school year and the subjects. Back to School is easy and is about the things and people you meet on the first day of class: pencil, backpack, notebook, ruler, eraser, scissors, locker, binder, recess, teacher and principal.
Math Class Words is medium and asks for fraction, angle, polygon, decimal, perimeter, quotient, equation, diameter and radius. Grammar Terms is hard and covers noun, verb, tense, clause, syntax, gerund, preposition, conjunction and participle. Both make a quick review before a test.
The clues describe what each item is for or what a term means, and the easy puzzle has short, familiar answers that fit early and middle elementary school. Teachers can use the puzzles as a warm-up, as a break before a test or for a substitute day. Solve them online or print them with the answer key. For your own puzzle, use the words of a specific subject.
Tips for your own puzzle
- Use a supply list: PENCIL, ERASER, RULER and MARKER are short words that cross easily.
- Add subjects: MATH, ART, MUSIC and SCIENCE share letters with many other words and make a good backbone.
- Write clues from a student’s view: “Where you hang your coat and keep your books” for LOCKER is clear and fun.
