About these jobs crosswords
The jobs crosswords look at the people who work all around us. Community Helpers is easy and made for kids, meant for ages six to ten, with doctor, nurse, teacher, firefighter, baker, librarian, dentist, plumber and mechanic. Each clue describes what the person does, so children connect the word with the job.
Building Trades is medium and asks about electrician, carpenter, welder, mason, roofer, architect, surveyor, apprentice, blueprint and scaffold. Careers in Medicine is hard and runs from surgeon and radiologist to doula, paramedic, pharmacist and midwife. Both fit career days, vocational classes and adults who like a challenge.
Solve them online on a phone or tablet, or print them with the answer key. Parents and teachers can use the kids puzzle to start a chat about what children want to be when they grow up. You can also make a puzzle for the jobs in your own family or town.
Tips for your own puzzle
- Pick jobs with a tool: NURSE, BAKER, VET and CHEF are short, and each has a clear tool or place to use in a clue.
- Add places: HOSPITAL, SCHOOL, BAKERY and STATION show where each helper works.
- Use action clues for kids: “Puts out fires and rides in a big red truck” leads to FIREFIGHTER.
