About these space crosswords
The space crosswords start on the launch pad and end among the stars. Blast Off to Space is easy and made for kids, with rocket, astronaut, moon, telescope and gravity. Planets and Space tours our solar system, from Mercury to Neptune, with asteroid, comet, orbit, eclipse, Titan and Europa.
Planets and Space is medium, so it suits middle school students and adults who like astronomy trivia. Constellations and Stars is hard and asks about Orion, Cassiopeia, Cygnus, Andromeda, Polaris, Sirius and Betelgeuse. The clues describe each answer instead of just naming it, which makes the puzzles a good review after a science unit or a planetarium visit.

Tips for your own puzzle
- Use the planets as a backbone: SATURN, JUPITER and NEPTUNE share many common letters and cross well with short words like SUN and ORBIT.
- Add moons for variety: TITAN circles Saturn, EUROPA and IO circle Jupiter, and PHOBOS circles Mars.
- Include PLUTO as a bonus clue: “Dwarf planet, no longer counted among the eight planets.” That fact is correct and starts a good conversation.
